The bill has now been referred to the Senate Committee on Elections and Local Government. 1/15/2016 Prohibits local regulation of “auxiliary containers”, which includes paper and plastic bags, cardboard, corrugated material, plastic and other packaging used to transport or protect merchandise, food or beverages. Reusable Definition This is not a bag ban- it is a reduction plan in 4 phases. The predevelopment phase is currently being undertaken. The education fee must be implemented by 1/1/2015. The incentive plan is implemented in 1/1/2017. If within the next year the reduction goals are not met, they will add a fee to plastic bags in 2018.
